A huge population of over two crores packed in a gas chamber of an area less than 1500 km2, you being one of them often might tend to feel lost in the crowd. Delhi is a mad town. It has huge businesses, IT parks, old markets, restaurants, students, educational institutes, and every other thing contributing to the chaos.

A typical resident of Delhi gets up every day, wastes a considerable amount of time in traffic, and to worsen this, in public transport, reaches the place where they work, deals with clients, peers, and seniors. The stress levels are now at peak. Then, he’ll face the same traffic to reach home. If stress vs time graph is made, it would be an exponential one.

Delhi’s heavy population brings in its own set of problems – scarcity of space, wasteful use of limited resources, and crimes. Also, the enormous population is obvious to raise pollution levels in the city. This affects the mental and physical well-being of the residents.

Now, the day has ended. The Delhi resident reaches home, turns on the television just to see all sorts of crime and protests in the country. This negativity adds to the stress level.

This cycle repeats itself again and again for weeks and months and years at a stretch. In such a hectic schedule, it is often difficult to find time for yourself. With all these unavoidable stressful scenarios, the choices he makes often add to the stress levels. Like eating absolute junk regularly because it gives him momentary happiness. Every time he craves that high of happiness, he craves junk food. And, on some days, when he is stressed out and everything is going wrong, he binges on that junk. Frequently eating this type of food affects health adversely.

How stressed is New Delhi?

The person faces turbulence in his everyday routines and family life that results in chaos and turmoil in his mind. Communication and relaxation are the least and rare.

Delhi residents, besides changing their lifestyle and daily routine, including maintaining 6-8 hours of sleep, balanced meals and exercise routine, they need to relax through connecting with others. Mindfulness and deep breathing exercises or yoga should be practised regularly. In such a stressful life, they need to learn to identify and eliminate any unhelpful feelings that might stray in. They should speak to someone they trust to ease their stress. Sharing your problems can help lessen anxiety.  They must find a new motive and meaning in their work and comprehend the value to motivate and energize themselves.

Stay constructive and active and positive.
